The Jr Varsity Rebels played in the 34th Annual Fresh/Soph 8-team Yorkwood Tournament last week.
In the 1st round, the Rebs faced Roseville beating them 50-28. The team started off slow with a lot of missed shots, but improved as the game continued.

In the 2nd round of the Yorkwood Tournament, the Rebels faced Hamilton outscoring them 46-38.

In the 3rd round and championship game, the Rebels faced Aledo and played hard from beginning to end.
When the first half had ended, Aledo was ahead by 1.
In the second half, it was all Southern, with good defense, ball handling and shooting by the team.
The young Rebels beat Aledo by a score of 64-47 to receive the first place plaque.

Individual Notes
Darick Clark had a game high with 21 points. He had one 3-point shot and was 14 for 17 from the free throw line, with 5 assists and 2 steals.
Adam Corzatt had 12 points, was 2 for 4 from the free throw line, had 5 assists and 1 steal.
Nick Burg had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Gerry Roark had 9 points, was 3 for 3 on 3-point shoots, had 2 assists, and 3 steals.
Jerry Morris had 6 points, 10 rebounds, and was 4 for 6 at the free throw line.
Andy Chockley had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and was 4 for 4 from the free throw line.
Calvin Covert had 2 points, 3 rebounds and had 2 blocked shots.
Jordan Dillard had a rebound, a steal and played good defense.
Adam Smith played good defense with a lot of hustle.
What a great game they all had.
Southern won first place, Aledo 2nd place, Hamilton 3rd place and Yorkwood 4th place. Union won the consolation game.
This ends the JV basketball season with a record of 20 wins and 2 losses to Carthage. They won the Conference and all team members played in every game.
The team was coached by Jerud Van Dyke in their awesome season.
