Meet Your Neighbor Melinda Clark, raised in Yorkwood, now is living in the Rozetta area (rural route Kirkwood).

Melinda has been married 17 years this August to Brian Clark, a Union graduate who farms with his brother Brad, his father Jerry, and his Uncle Dean Clark.

The couple has two children Miranda 13 and Jared 11 who are attending Union Elementary School.

Since December 1, 2003, Melinda has been your Henderson County CHIEF COUNTY ASSESSMENT OFFICER formerly known as Supervisor Of Assessment.

She worked in the office under Nancy Brokaw for 4 1/2 years, qualifying for her position after traveling all over the state to take five required core classes:

Melinda then passed her "Supervisor Of Assessment Exam" on the first try on March 2001. Passing this difficult exam is a must along with having two years of experience in finance, appraising, or assessing.

Half of the Chief Assessment Officer's salary is paid by the State of Illinois and is withheld if an officer fails to meet certain criteria in their assessment work.

Melinda has found this year to be particularly challenging for it is the year that the land values go into affect.

Prior to working for the county, Melinda worked as bookkeeper at Union School District #115 for 4 years in the Superintendent's. Before that, she was secretary bookkeeper two years for the Farm Bureau office in Stronghurst at the time of the Warren-Henderson merger.

Melinda enjoys reading but spends most of her free time catering to the depends of their two busy children.
