The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Isaac F. Harter, long time doctor in Carman vicinity and the village of Stronghurst, was born in Hancock County, Ill. Aug.6, 1851. He grew up on his father's farm and got such an education as the common schools afforded and then went to the graded school at Danvers. He taught awhile
and took a three years' course at Abingdon College. From there he went into the office of J.J.Reabun, M.D., at Danvers. He took a full course of lectures at the College of Physicians at Keokuk, Iowa, and located in Carman. On Dec.30, 1879 he married Mary Hugenschutz.When the village of Stronghurst was settled, the couple located there, and he continued an extensive practice for many years.
