RARITAN - Thieves broke into the Wisslead Oil Co. and took an undetermined amount of cash and collector coins sometime between 9 p.m. last Monday night and 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 8th.
While a large window at the office building was shattered, the front door to the facility remained locked and intact.
Owner Steve Wisslead said several proof coin sets and Silver Eagle pieces were taken from a safe, as well as $150 in cash from a cash register.
Henderson County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call after a passerby noticed shattered plate glass at the business Tuesday morning. A safe valued at $100 also was taken, and the store's cash register received $200 in damage.
Fingerprinting was done by the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services Tuesday, but Sheriff Mark Lumbeck said no suspects have been apprehended.
Wisslead said no product inventory was missing from the store as of Wednesday morning, but a total loss amount had not yet been assessed.
Anyone with information on the break-in is asked to call Henderson County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-867-6202.
