Oquawka Man Arrested near Stronghurst for Producing Meth

Henderson County Sheriff Mark Lumbeck reports that an Oquawka man was arrested on methamphetamine manufacturing charges in rural Stronghurst, on Friday, June 11.

Jared M. Simpson, 29, Oquawka, was arrested for unlawful possession of methamphetamine manufacturing chemical with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, two counts of unlawful chemical breakdown of an illicit controlled substance and criminal trespass to real property.

Lumbeck said that the sheriff's department received a complaint of a car parked at a farm located north of Stronghurst.

When sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, Simpson was at the car, and a strong odor of ether could be smelled in the area where the car was parked. Meth making materials were found after a search was conducted by the West Central Illinois Task Force agents, Illinois State Police, and sheriffs deputies.

Simpson is being held in the Henderson county jail in lieu of a $50,000.00 bond, with 10 percent to apply.
