A summer business is upshot of a helping hand
Gene and Kris Reische have run the concession stand at the La Harpe Ball Park for 4 years now and it all started with a helping hand and a sport-active family.
Our daughters were always in a summer ball league as they were growing up," said Kris. "Now we have a granddaughter, Kellie, who is playing in Pee Wee T-Ball."
Kris started out by helping Sandy Johnson in the concession stand. Then she and her husband Gene decided to take over the stand. For five nights a week, the Reisches are busy serving hungry ballplayers and fans for six weeks during the summer ball season. They arrive at the park around 5:00 p.m. each evening and many times it is 11:00 p.m. before they get home, depending on how long the games last.
During the long ball sessions, those who enjoy watching the games or participating really appreciate having the Reisches there to meet their hunger and thirst needs. It really makes a good family and community gathering place for the area.
