At the June Stronghurst Board meeting Monday night, Angela Myers reported many have expressed interest in a city wide garage sale day.
The board agreed on Saturday, June 19th as the date and anyone wishing to participate is encouraged to call Angela. She will be preparing a map and would like to list as many of the sales as possible.
Angela Myers and Juanita Jarvis, both expressed pleasure at how nice the village park looks with the flower beds planted and blooming. Tony Griepentrog said the park is being well used, as all weekends in June are booked and July is filling up fast.
Stronghurst Village Board members discussed possible solutions to the problem of vehicles stopping by the fire hydrant at the high school to load and unload children. The board's main concern is the safety of the children and while there is no easy solution, they will keep trying to find a solution that will work for all concerned.
Lawrence Neff suggested the village consider purchasing a hand compactor for the employees to use when patching streets. The compactor would eliminate the employees driving over the blacktop several times and having to refill each hole two or three times. Tony Anderson was asked to look at the possibility of finding a used one and also getting some prices.
The village agreed to plow the drive at Plate Services, Inc. making it possible for them to put up a mail box.
The board passed the Prevailing Wage Ordinance and also a No Parking Ordinance for a no parking sign at the school.
Present: Board members, Tony Griepentrog, Lawrence Neff, Angela Myers, Bob Scott, Juanita Jarvis and David Vancil; President Eric Chockley; Clerk Deanna Huss; Employees, Bob Carmean and Tony Anderson.
The next board meeting will be held on Monday, July 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the Stronghurst Village Hall.
