LaHARPE - The School Board has hired Lila McKeown as high school principal for the 2004-05 school year.
LaHarpe Superintendent Jo Campbell said the school board approved the hire at the June meeting.
McKeown, a science teacher at LaHarpe junior and senior high schools for 17 years, will continue teaching three courses, Biology I and II and anatomy/physiology, on a part-time basis in addition to filling the administrator position.
She will fill the vacancy left by former high school principal Charles Apt after he retired from the position at the end of the 2003-04 school year.
Campbell said the district has not yet determined what McKeown's salary as principal will be.
