The 6th annual Fred Gibb memorial open car show will be held Saturday, August 7th at the LaHarpe Park District, along highway 9 at the west end of LaHarpe.
According to organizers, this year's event is bigger than ever as they have expanded it further onto the golf course.
New to the event this year will be Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #8 Nascar Race Car and several vintage drag race cars.
John Hooper, national known author for his book on Camaros, will also be there.
Bill Porterfield will be there with his #1 1969 ZL-1 Fred Gibb Pro Stock Camaro and matching 2002 Phase III ZL-1 which are the first and last of the Fred Gibb Camaros.
Venders this year include Photos, Graphics, Pinstriping, Die Cast Models and more. Food venders will also be there as well as a live band.
The first time visitors to the car show will see the most horse power of any single car show. They will see a wide variety of entries with over 13 states represented.
This year there possibly will be exhibitors from outside the United States. Attendees will be able to participate in the auction and many more things.
So far around 70 cars have pre-registered, but they are expecting over 500 cars to show. There will be 39 classes and 2 special memorial awards. Trophies will be given to the top three places in each class.
Jerry Burford and Kenny Brown organized the first show six years ago. Bob Lionberger has sinced joined them. Kenny and Bob work to get things ready for the show and Jerry works to get the sponsers.
The three say that there will be a few surprises at the show this year, so don't miss it! Car fans are also reminded of the Maple City Cruise Night the night before at Monmouth where hundreds of cars will be displayed. It makes for a fun weekend.
