Meet your neighbors Harold and Irene Brown. They will be celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary July 23, 2004.
Harold is the son of Ruth and Ernie Brown. He attended La Harpe schools and has lived all his life in La Harpe.
Irene's parents are the late Hugh and Marie Harding. She grew up in Blandinsville and lived there until her marriage.
Harold and Irene met at Tinks Cafe in Blandinsville where she was working. They were married at the Presbyterian Church in Stronghurst on July 23, 1955. They began their married life in La Harpe and are still living there. Three children were born to them- Larry, Lana, and Darren. they are enjoying their 5 grandchildren and are looking forward to twins that are to be born in October. They also have 2 great-grandchildren.
Harold and Irene are both retired. He worked for 32 years at J.I. Case in Burlington. She worked for 22 years at Bower Roller Bearing in Macomb. Harold enjoys working on cars and Irene enjoys her computer.
