Ethel Jones was born November 16, 1912, on a farm near La Harpe. She has spent her entire life in and around the La Harpe area.
She attended school from first grade through eighth grade at North Prairie County School.
Ethel married Elbert Jones in 1930. They were married 50 years. He passed away in 1980. They raised 5 children, Glen, Daisy, Gale, Gene and Catherine. Three are deceased now.
Ethel always had a huge garden and canned everything they raised. She worked at the Lomax tomato factory, La Harpe School Cafeteria, and in the housekeeping department at W.I.U.
She has always enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Because of failing health, she now resides with her daughter, Catherine.
