The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
In 1858 Norah Purcell hauled a small shanty into the village of Biggsville, stocked it with a store of goods from Kirkwood and engaged in merchandising calico, tea, coffee, soap, molasses and whisky.
His stay, however, was of short duration. Caught as a forger, he was sentenced to serve time in the calaboose. Two days later he left the constable asleep in the bed they were to share and left the country.
Thus ended the life of an early business.
