Janet (Deitrich) Apt was born near La Harpe (she didn't quite make it to the hospital, but that's another story!) and has spent all her life in the La Harpe area.
She attended country schools at McGuffy for 6 years, and at LaCrosse for 2 years, then attended and graduated from La Harpe High School.
After high school she attended Burlington Beauty Academy. She worked at Mae Burts Beauty Salon for a short time.
She married her high school sweetheart Richard Apt on September 24, 1961. The couple moved to the farm. They have two married daughters who live near La Harpe, Brenda (Joe) Sparrow and Lora (Ron) Mellinger, and 4 grandchildren.
Janet keeps busy with many things that interest her. She likes to read, do scrapbooking, work in flower beds and the yard. She also enjoys going to her grandchildren's games, craft shows, flea markets and yard sales.
