At the Stronghurst Village board meeting held on Monday, February 2, 2004, Curt Eisenmayer commended the village employees for the diligent work they did during the recent water main break.
Bob Hamilton seconded that and also offered praise for the good job they do keeping the snow removed from in front of the businesses.
Bob Carmean reported in his 41 years as a village employee this is the first time a water main break ever took more than one day to repair. This one took 4 days to complete.
President Eric Chockley said the school had requested they be notified whenever the water was to be shut off.
President Chockley said the school, as well as the nursing home needs to be advised of a water shut off.
Scott Ford and Tony Anderson will be attending the Water and Sewer Conference in Effingham on February 24, 25, and 26. The board voted to pay the $120 registration fee and to allow $275 for rooms and meals.
The board agreed to indoor/outdoor carpeting on the floor in the meeting room in the former Dick's Welding Shop.
The board passed an ordinance for another handicapped parking space in front of the Stronghurst Senior Citizen building.
The board approved a $10,000 down payment on the new Caterpillar tractor they have ordered.
The Henderson County Sheriff's report for January included: Arrests for: speeding; 2 for no drivers license; operating uninsured motor vehicle, for improper use of registration, for resist/obstruct a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, 2 illegal consumption by minor, and illegal parking.
A warning ticket was issued for failure to yield from stop. Pending investigation is: other criminal offense, theft over $300, disorderly conduct, telephone threat and other traffic offenses. Two retail thefts were referred to responsible.

Board member Robert Scott was absent.
The next board meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2004.
