The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Dear Editor,
With the Almost Home Animal Adoption Center (Henderson County Humane Society) closing its' door to accepting cats and dogs because of:
1. Losing their "Green Thumb' worker
2. People are not spaying or neutering their animals making it impossible to cut down on the population and making it impossible to find homes for shelter animals, which by law must be spayed or neutered forcing us to charge for shelter animals.
Therefore, the Humane Society is restructuring their program. The newly formed board consisting of Elaine Hinshaw, Ramona Bailey, Linda Reaves, Kathy Kniss, Candy Miller-Fosmore, Delores Olson, Missey Hinshaw, Jo Wolf and Allen Hinshaw has applied for grants and is presently working on a low cost spay-neuter program which will make it possible for EVERYONE in Henderson County to have their pet spayed or neutered, therefore getting to the source of the problem of so many starving, sick and unwanted animals. Therefore there will be NO excuses for anyone not having their animals sterilized.
We will keep the public informed as details are worked out.
The Humane Society invites everyone to attend their newly formed and informal meetings which are held the second Tuesday of each month April through October and December and February during winter months at 7:00 p.m. at the Shelter which is located a short way east of the bowling alley on the north side of the highway in Oquawka. Next meeting will be February 8.
Anyone wanting to make a donation can mail to the Henderson County Humane Society, P.O. Box 246, Oquawka, Illinois 61469 or give to one of the above-mentioned board members. We do have a 501-c#.
We'd like to thank all of the past and present volunteers and welcome all the new board members.
Happy New Year!
