Rebel Basketball

On December 7, 2004 the Southern Rebels basketball team traveled to Bushnell to play the Spartans.

To start the night out, the junior varsity team lost by a score of 51-46. The JV team played a great game, but could not come out on top.

They were short one player in the 4th quarter due to a debatable call which led to an ejection.

The Rebels JV team is now 2-1.

The varsity Rebels then took over the night and followed in the footsteps of the JV with a 57-40 loss.

The Rebels were led by Jerry Morris who had 14 points.

Ben Jacob, Darick Clark and Nick Burg each chipped in 6 points and Chase Heap had 5.

The scoring was well rounded, but the Rebels had trouble keeping the ball in their possession.

Scores by quarters: Southern 7-9-12-12 = 40; Bushnell 20-6-16-15 = 57

After a hard loss to Bushnell earlier in the week, the Southern Rebels were looking to get back on the right foot. On Friday, December 10, the Rebels played host to the Union Yankees.

Although the JV was short one player, they were able to defeat the Yankees 55-36.

This put the JV with a 3-1 record.

The Varsity game was a great one to watch.

Both teams played well and the fans were really into it.

Adam Corzatt led the scoring for the Rebels with 15 points and they were much needed. Jerry Morris had 12 points, Darick Clark had 9 points, Nick Burg and Chase Heap had 8 and Gerry Roark had 1.

The Rebels got the win 57-51 to put them back on the winning side.

Scores by quarters: Southern, 11-18-14-14 = 57; Union, 8-17-10-16 = 51

On December 11, the Southern Rebels traveled down to Astoria to take on the South Fulton Rebels.

The JV played a good game but did not win. The score was Astoria 42, Southern 33.

The JV now has a record of 3-2.

The varsity Rebels once again followed in the JV's footsteps with a loss of 39-35.

Jerry Morris led the scoring with 13 points. Adam Corzatt and Darick Clark each had 7 points. The Varsity Southern team may see them again in the Roseville Tournament beginning on December 14. The Rebels first challenge will be against Avon.
