Winter Holiday Concert

The music department of La Harpe School District #335, grades 5 through 12 presented their 2004 Winter Holiday Concert this past Wednesday evening, December 8th in their high school gym.

The weather was nice and a large crowd came to watch the students perform.

The beginning 5th Grade band started the evening with "Merrily We Roll Along", and "Jingle Bells".

Dayna Bundy and Samantha Scott played a lively flute duet to "Jolly Old St. Nick".

The fifth grade sang, "A Perfect Winter Day", which was a fun song.

The junior high band did an excellent job performing three songs, "Prelude and Dance", "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer", and "Sounds of the Season".

"Something Told the Wild Geese", "On the Roof ( I Saw Santa Claus)", and "By Candlelight" were sung by the Senior women's Ensemble. This group consisted of eight Freshman girls whose voices blended beautifully.

The Junior High Choir did a great job singing, "Salsa Noel", "Carol of the Bells", and "Boogie-Woogie Holiday".

And last but not least, the Senior High Jazz Band performed a spirited number called, "Funky Ol' St. Nick". (Two of the group are pictured at left).

The concert was performed under the direction of Mrs. Stephanie Mencel, Choral and Band Instructor.

Jaden Anders and Mrs. Koreen Caldwell were the accompanists.

After the concert, punch and cookies were served by the La Harpe Music Boosters.
