The Varsity Belles took part in the 2004 Girls Tip-Off Classic. It was the 19th annual tournament held at Monmouth High School.
The girls emerged with a perfect 3-0 record. They were scheduled to play 4 games, but the last day of the tournament was cancelled due to the snow that fell almost all day on Wednesday.
The Belles took the first game against Monmouth by a score of 64-42. They were led by Mindy Morrison who had 18 points. Along with her 18 points, she led the team with a total of 10 rebounds. Darci Renken also had a good game with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both Kayla Coffey and Annie Pogue had 8 points and both pulled down some rebounds.
The Belles next challenge was against Annawan.
They easily won by a 16 point margin 46-30.
Winning this game gave them a 2-0 record for the day and put the Belles in good position to win the entire tournament.
The final game was against Galva.
In the first quarter of the game, the Belles outscored them by 15 points. During the first half, Galva only scored 11 points. It wasn't until the 3rd and 4th quarters that they were able to put some points up against the Belles good defense.
The ending score was Belles 52, Galva 28.
This last win gave the Belles their 3-0 record which was the best out of all of the attending teams at the tournament.
