In the local and family history section of the Henderson Public Library in Biggsville are booklets produced by Richard Brokaw which include the 1868, 1900 and1913 plats of the county.
Notice that two of these include years in which there was no census. If your ancestor owned land in 1868 or 1913 and then sold out for Iowa or Nebraska, seeing his name attached to property will guide you the land record in Oquawka stored in the County Clerks office. Oft times, trying to prove residency takes detective work and these booklets are helpful resources.
