Dallas City:The July 14th and July 28th 2004 City Council meetings were held in regular forum with Mayor Lila Gittings calling both meetings to order.
Commissioners present were Phillip Bowman, Joyce Ellison, and Harold Northup, and Esther Newberry were present. Chris Classen was present at both meetings and Rod Clark and John Stimpson attended the 28th meeting.
On July 14th Council discussed trains and loud whistles. They also discussed cutting some dead trees at a cost of $400 to $500.
A motion was made by Bowman and 2nd by Northup to paint "Welcome" sign posts a beige color per public opinion. Bowman, Northup and Gittings AYE. Ellison and Newberry voted NAY.
Chris Classen reported that he had sent water tests in to be checked. He discussed a broken water line with the council and discussed purchasing a water line detector. An estimated had been received from USA Blue Book for $1,080.02. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
On July 28th in regular session, Classen reported to the Dallas City Council that they recently had a leak in a meter pit.Ê He also said that he has replied to the EPA regarding violations and that we should now be in compliance with the EPA.
A motion was made by Bowman, and seconded by Newberry to purchase a water line detector from USA Blue Book for $1,080.02.Ê Bowman, Ellison, Newberry, Northup, and Gittings all voted AYE.
The council discussed water and sewer rates and the possible need to raise them.Ê
