The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
by: Shirley Linder, Quill Editor
Alan Ferguson reported to the Village of Stronghurst board Monday night that street oiling will probably begin sometime next week.
He reported that last year there was something wrong with the oil and the rock came right off of the streets. Each year the village does approximately a third of the streets.
David Vancil asked Deputy Henshaw if anyone had been caught yet for stealing license plates from vehicles. He said they had not.
Angela Myers reported their quota in poundage is being met for recyclables.
The water hydrant has been placed in the village park, but since the hose has not arrived a garden hose is being used for watering the flowers.
Approval was given for Scott Ford and Tony Anderson to attend the fall water conference in Springfield from September 22-24.
The sheriff's report for the month of July included: criminal sexual assault, fireworks, 2 counts of criminal damage to property, theft over $300 and theft under $300, all pending investigation.
A case of harassment by telephone was "for information only."
Cases cleared by arrest included, domestic battery, 2 counts of unlawful chemical breakdown of illicit material, failure to signal, suspended, revoked drivers license and unlawful possession of hypo syringe.
Attending the meeting were:
Board members: Tony Griep-entrog, Lawrence Neff, David Vancil and Angela Myers;
President: Eric Chockley;
Clerk: Deanna Huss;
Treasurer: Lori Russell;
Deputy: Steve Henshaw;
Employee: Bob Carmean and
Guest: Alan Ferguson.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 7 p.m. in the Village Hall.
