LHS Scholastic Bowl Has Successful Season

The La Harpe High School scholastic bowl team has finished a very successful season with a record of fourteen wins and three losses. Unfortunately, two of the three losses were during very important games. One loss was during the championship round of the Bi-County Tournament. Consequently, the team won second in the Bi-County, being defeated by Yorkwood 165 to 190. The team then played Yorkwood the following week in regular competition and avenged their loss 235 to 85.

The other critical loss was during Regionals against Knoxville. The team was up 122 to 67 at half time, but watched their lead dwindle away and were beaten by a final score of 155 to 178.

The varsity team is composed of Evan Ford, Levi Pfeiffer, Matt Swanson, Anna Ziegler, Abby Burr, Crystal Ryder, and Hannah Bolding.

They cumulatively outscored their opponents for the season 2830 to 1807. Seniors Evan Ford, Levi Pfeiffer, Matt Swanson, and Anna Ziegler were honored March 11th during their last home meet against Nauvoo-Colusa.

The high school art department supplied a nearly life sized banner parodying Charlie's Angels but with faces looking suspiciously like Levi, Evan, Anna, and Matt.

They finished the season with a win.

Junior varsity players are Mitch Worley, Travis Pence, Ryan Mullenix, Kelli Burr, Willo Shutwell, Claire McKee, Lacey Pence, and Genessa Cox.
