This was a very busy week for the SJH track teams as we participated in 3 meets. On Tuesday, April 13, 2004, we hosted Dallas City and Union. The following girls placed in the following events:

We appreciate all of the parents and other supporters who helped with the track meet.
The next meet was Bobcat Relays held at Warsaw, on Thursday, April 15, 2004. Twelve teams competed in this large meet where 7th and 8th grades are combined for a single score. The girls brought home a 2nd place trophy. Rachele Jack set a new school record in the 100 meter hurdles and placed 1st with a time of 17.25 seconds, Kayla Rothzen placed 5th. Samantha Arnold finished 4th in the 1600 meter run and Miriam Rutzen completed the 400 meter dash in 2nd. Brittany Fox ran the 200 meter dash to a 3rd place finish. Ashli Burg and Sarah Heller earned 4th and 6th places, respectively, in the 800 meter run. The team comprised of Brittany Fox, Kristin Plath, Rachele Jack, and Miriam Rutzen ran to a 1st place finish in the 4x200 meter relay. In field events, Brittany Fox put the shot to a 2nd place finish and Rachele Jack hurled the discus to gain 3rd place. Miriam Rutzen also set a new school record in the high jump with a winning jump to clear 5'0".
Saturday, April 17, 2004 sent us to Rushville to the 7th Annual Rushville/Industry Jr. High Relays. The warm weather was a change for us but most adapted well. These relays had some atypical relays, but we handled them nicely. This was also a 7th and 8th combined meet. The girls finished in 1st place, overall, in a field of 10 schools, such as, Rushville/Industry, Hannibal, Griggsville Perry, Southeastern, West Prairie, Beardstown, Lewistown, PCS, and Winchester.

We also did excellent in field events. Two contestants are entered in each event and their distances/heights are combined for the team score.
