Union Approves Salaries

April 1, 2004 - 6:00 p.m.

The Board of Education of Union Community Unit School District # 115, met at 6:00 p.m. on April 1, 2004, in the Unit Office, Biggsville.

Members present were Allaman, Bigger, Kage, Miller, Parsons, and Sams. Weber was absent.

The board entered into closed session for discussions regarding negotiations and the contract with the Union representing the teachers, and for consideration of administrator compensation.

The board returned to open session at 8:17 p.m.

By unanimous roll call vote, the board accepted and approved the Amended Collective Bargaining Agreement as negotiated between the United Educators of Union and the board for the period beginning July 1, 2001, and ending June 30, 2005.

After discussion, it was moved by Miller and seconded by Sams, that the salary of the Union High School Counselor, Lanie Hultgren, be set at $35,000 for the 2004-2005 school year noting that the performance of the counselor was considered to be outstanding.

Voting in favor of the motion were Miller, Sams, Allaman, and Bigger. Parsons and Kage were opposed. The motion carried.

After discussion, it was moved by Allaman and seconded by Bigger, that the salary of Union Elementary Principal, Tony Ryan, be set at $55,000 for the 2004-2005 school year. Further moved, that the salary of Union High School Principal, Karen Rima, be set at $53,500 for the 2004-2005 school year. It was noted that the performance of both principals was considered to be outstanding. Voting in favor of the motion were Allaman, Bigger, Miller, and Sams. Kage and Parsons were opposed. The motion carried.

The board adjourned until 7:00 p.m. on April 21, 2004.
