Meet Your Neighbor Doris Kraft, born in Macomb in 1919. Her parents were Earl and Samantha Millard. Doris received most of her schooling in the Macomb schools but graduated from Industry High School. She worked at various jobs in Macomb until her marriage to Dale Kraft in 1940. They set up housekeeping in the Fountain Green area and farmed for several years. In 1959, they moved into La Harpe. Doris worked for Hamilton and Miller Grocery for 17 years. She and Dale opened their own grocery store in Blandinsville and were in business for several years. After closing their store, Doris worked at La Harpe Hospital as a receptionist for Dr. Hafeez. She and Dale enjoyed attending craft shows and flea markets with Dale making wooden items and Doris crocheting many different things. They finally retired from this due to health problems. Dale died in 2001. Doris has one son, Darrell and daughter-in-law Connie, two granddaughters and four great-grandsons. She enjoys listening to books on tape. |
