City Council Sets Oct. 6th LaHarpe Clean-up Day

(Sept. 8, 2003 Council Meeting)

The date has been set with Waste Management for the Fall Citywide Cleanup in La Harpe - Monday, October 6th.

More details will be posted and will be put in The Quill.

The third reading of the proposed water ordinance amendment was read. Only one visitor has attended from the three meetings. A motion to approve Ordinance 2003-5 was made and seconded. The motion unanimously carried. The amendment will be effective October 1st and will be published in The Quill.

Due to continued vandalism in the La Harpe City Park shelter house, the council decided to temporarily close the shelter house from dusk until dawn, and the City Police will enforce this action.

The panels and lights at the shelter house are occasionally broken. The city park also has a 11:00 curfew which remains the same.

As the council's representative for the La Harpe Davier Extended Care Facility, Alderman Lovell reported that the facility has been made a smoke-free environment. He also reported there has been a new administrator hired.

A new student Alderman will be chosen soon from the high school to serve on the city council.

At 8:02 p.m., a motion was made and seconded to adjourn and enter Executive Session to discuss salaries. The session was taped.

Alderman returned to open session at 8:14 p.m. and members voted to increase a part-time employee's wages who had finished their 6 month probation.

City Counci adjourned at 8:16 p.m. with all six Aldermen, the City Clerk, President, City Attorney and all city employees in attendance.
