Opening night at the Henderson County Old Tyme Farm Show, John Lafary, assisted by his daughter Allison, was in charge of the two Rendering Kettles. His mother, Janet was in charge of ordering and purchased 150 lbs. of beans and 80 lbs. of ham, plus the makings for 800 cornbread muffins which she and John mixed and baked. Yearly, the family of the late Ralph Lafary are in charge of the Ham and Bean supper which is offered free to all who come wearing a current old tyme button. The kettles are owned by The Lafary family, Smithshire and the Wayne Gearhart Family of Raritan. |
