Dallas City Council Has New Web Site Running

The City of Dallas City announced at their October 22nd meeting that their new web site is up and running. It is now available at www.dallascity-il.com

Mayor Lila Gittings called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. with Commissioners Esther Newberry, Phillip Bowman, and Harold Northup present. Others present were Chris Classen.

Chris Classen discussed the cleaning of the boiler at the old high school. Tests have been made and the PH level is acceptable.

Motion was made by New berry and seconded by Bowman to pass Ordinance #552 establishing the office of Deputy Clerk for the City of Dallas City. Both the City Clerk and Deputy City Clerk will be appointed by City Commissioners. The Deputy Clerk is not a paid position. All voted to approve the ordinance.

The board also discussed the request from Fort Madison Bank & Trust for two parking places for ATM Machine parking. It was felt this would cause other business places to request the same privilege.

They discussed a contract with Chad Passley for 2004 and will discuss it again at the next meeting.

The board also talked of buying a shot gun for the city police car which will be discussed again at the next meeting.

Northup reported that the firemen will serve hot dogs for Trick or Treat October 30. It was approved to pay volunteer firemen $50 for the expenses of the party.

Esther Newberry discussed using city vehicles for personal reasons. It was agreed that vehicles shall not be used for personal reasons.
