Walking With the Spirits

The Stronghurst Cemetery was alive once again with the spirits of our deceased loved ones strolling among their grave. On Sunday, September 28th, the first annual Cemetery Walk was held as a conclusion to the Stronghurst Booster Club's Heritage Day Weekend.

The walk began with Mary Lee Taylor and Vince Whiteman telling of the individuals they were portraying.

On the east side of the cemetery were Jon Graham and Jim Blender, and Richard Clifton,Craig Taylor, Sharon Graham and Donna Buss.

Donna gave a dramatic performance showing the gun shot wounds on Minnie Ahlers' body.

Toward the middle of the cemetery was David Leath, Debbie Gillam, Montana Pence and Eric Scott.

Visitors for the evening were Sarah Alpaugh and Elizabeth Bogard, traveling spirits from the Raritan Cemetery, portrayed by Roberta Hanger and Jo Stull.

In Hope Abbey, we found Vicki Keever with a humorous portrayal.

Journeying from there, Curt Eisenmayer was the grave witchery expert. He also spent time in a coffin.

Walking along the candle lit path, the last stop was Sherrill Leath telling about Potters' Field.

The spirits were all in clothing from the time period they were portraying. There was only a small sliver of moonlight which made the night especially enchanting.

The Cemetery Committee consisted of Diana Taylor, Diane Lange and Susan Lyon. Kathy and Jerry Keimig helped with refreshments and Art Kane was greeter.

Next year's Cemetery Walk will be at the Olena Cemetery. If anyone has information on any of the Olena spirits, the Cemetery Committee would appreciate you contacting them.
