Ray (Tuffy) St. Clair was born in Henderson County, the son of Frederick and Ruby (Freeman) St. Clair. His early school years were spent in the Disco school, coming into La Harpe for high school.
He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. He worked at several different jobs before taking a job with the railroad. He retired from the railroad in 1986 having worked there since 1956.
Tuffy and Dean Bradshaw had the distinction of starting little league baseball in La Harpe in the early 1950's.
Ray and Doris (Pee Wee) Steepleton were married in 1947. They are the parents of 1 daughter, Sheila of Cedar Rapids, IA., 2 granddaughters, 2 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson all of the Cedar Rapids area.
