On a 5-2 vote Southern board members voted in special session Monday to co-op football with Union for the 2004-05 football season.
Rod Fox, Melissa Livermore, Jon Corzatt, Doug Brooks and Brad Arnold cast yes votes, while Dan Bowman and Brendan Schaley voted no.
Meetings have been held recently with both Southern and Union representatives to consider the feasibility of co-oping.
Southern will be the host school and most of the practices will be held in Stronghurst. For next year the games will be played at Southern with the exception of one to played at Union. In the following years the games would be equally divided.
Doug Brooks said the biggest concern was uniforms and the committee had agreed to the dark blue pants Southern now has, dark blue jerseys for home with white numbers and white jerseys with red numbers for away games.
Each school would be responsible for preparing their equipment for next season.
There are still many details to be decided, but both Southern and Union feel they can work together to make the program successful.
