Henderson County Food Pantry Receives Generous Donations

The Henderson County Health Department has been running over with the gift of caring the past few days.

On Friday, November 14 a family that wanted to give back for all the help they received during hard times, did just that. Kim Mettler Robert Turner, Sr., and their children Thomas Turner, Shane Mettler and Robert Turner, Jr. dug and bagged over 2,500 pounds of potatoes for the Health Department food pantry.

Earlier in the week, they did the same with 5,000 pounds for the Lomax food pantry.

On Sunday, November 16, Don and Carolyn Fry, Ali Postle, Laura Marshall and Virginia Ross from the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church delivered a $1,000 worth of food for the food pantry.

The same was done for the Lomax and Oquawka food pantries.

During these uncertain times and with the holidays fast approaching, the food will certainly bring tremendous joy to many families.

The staff at the Health Department appreciates everyone involved.

We see the need each and every day, and we are so thankful for the generosity and caring by others in our community.

If you would like to donate to the food pantry, you can do so by dropping your donation off at the Health Department in Gladstone or call 309/627-2812 for more information.

If you are in need of food, the pantry is open Tuesdays 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Thursdays 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
