Lois (Dowell) Campbell of Stronghurst is retired, but remains very active in her community.

She was born April 26, 1920 in Raritan Township, the daughter of George and Mary Brokaw. She graduated in 1937 from Media High School.

She was a secretary for the Illinois Breeding Corp. in Marengo,, IL and for Country Companies in Monmouth.

Lois has a son Rodney Dowell who was in the Army and a Vietnam Veteran. She has three stepchildren Larry and Sid Dowell of Stronghurst, and Sheila Wells of Bloomington, 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Although 83, Lois keeps busy in many organizations throughout the community. She is a member of the Stronghurst Methodist Church, President of the United Methodist Women, Chaplain of the Legion Auxiliary, member of the Oak Lane Auxiliary and volunteer at least once a week, member of the Home Extension, and Stronghurst Community Senior Citizens where she is Secretary.

In her spare time she enjoys handiwork and reading.
