In Southern High School's gymnasium Sunday, May 18th, with a packed crowd of family and friends, thirty-seven Southern High School students took part in their graduation ceremonies. Gene Heap Commander of the Henderson County American Legion Post 765 awarded what he described as the highest honor awarded by that legion, and that is The Good Citizenship Award. The award went to Silas Pogue, son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Pogue, and to Casey Nichols, daughter of Mr. Jeff Nichols and Mrs. Diana Beals. Honor, Courage, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service are the five qualifications that are considered in the selection.
