The LaHarpe Junior High Track Team competed at the Bushnell Sectional Track Meet last Saturday with an outstanding showing overall. LJHS brought home hardware (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) in 3 of the 4 team divisions, while qualifying 16 boys and girls for state. The I.E.S.A. State Track Meet will be held this Friday and Saturday at East Peoria.
LJHS took home top honors in the 7th grade girls' division with a 96 point total. The 8th grade girls took home the runner-up plaque while the 7th grade boys finished a surprising 3rd overall. This is the first boys plaque for LJHS since 1999, while the girls have never finished out of the top three during that time.
The 16 athletes LJHS will take to state include a dozen girls and four boys. The girls competing at state will be the following:
Claire McKee: 8th grade- 1600 M, 800 M, Long Jump, and 4x200 Relay
Kelsey Wisslead: 8th grade- 100 M. Hurdles, 4x200 Relay
Carlie Wear: 8th grade- Shot Put, Discus, 4x200 Relay
Megan Poulter: 8th grade- 4x200 Relay
Paige Carpenter: 8th grade- 1600 M.
Alyssa Swanson: 7th grade- 100 M. Hurdles, 4x400 Relay
Haeli Johnson: 7th grade- 1600 M. 400 M., 4x400 Relay
Morgan Mohr: 7th grade- 100 M., 400 M, High Jump, 4x400 Relay
Erika Eddington: 7th grade- 4x200 Relay, 4x400 Relay
Mackenzie Ourth: 7th grade- 1600 M., 800 M., 4x200 Relay
Shelby Bartlett: 7th grade- 4x200 Relay
Morgan Pollock: 7th grade- 4x200 Relay
