photo and article by Donna Grisham, the Quill Staff

On May 1st, after twenty-five years in the tire business, Arlin Clover of La Harpe has stepped down, and Steve Reed of La Harpe is taking over. Arlin and Steve have worked together for 25 years, starting in the old Ford Garage building, moving to the "Corner Grocery" location along Main Street, and then to their present location west of town, the former location of Fred Gibb Chevrolet at the Junction of E Hwy 9 & 94 N.

Arlin and Steve have worked many long hard hours to make this business a success to benefit the La Harpe area. With Arlin's health problems, he felt it was time to give it up. He will stay and work part- time "until everything is completed," he said.

Arlin and Steve have been blessed with many faithful customers throughout the years from the surrounding area. With knowledge gained from 25 years experience, Steve said he will continue with the same good service as in the past. Steve's wife Debbie, will run the office with the help of their daughter, Mindy. As for Arlin, he plans to golf, ride his cycle and just enjoy life. "Good Luck, Arlin - you've earned this. We wish the best for Steve as he continues in the tire business serving LaHarpe and the surrounding area."

Steve Reed left, takes over the Clover Tire Shop after working with Arlin Clover 25 years. Arlin (right) is looking forward to some part time work and well-earned relaxation.
