Lomax Village Board April 8th
The President-ProTemand the Board of Trustees of the Village of Lomax met in regular session on Tuesday, April 8, 2003. President ProTem Jack Todd called meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present were Leslie Roberts, James Rosenboom, Jack Todd, Ron Van Niewaal, Rick Kienlen, Rebecca Moyers, and Kim Peters.
Minutes, Treasurer's Report, and Bills were approved.
In General Business:
- Carolyn Watkins discussed Lomax for Kids program costs and proposed activities and director, Trish Rankin. VanNiewaal moved to donate $2,000 again this year for the summer program; seconded by Peters; roll call vote all ayes.
- Carolyn Watkins also discuss applying for a State Farm grant to be used for the Lomax for Kids activities. All agreed to do so.
- Todd reported about what he was quoted by Waste Management for cleanup day. The price had raised somewhat since last year, however, since the latest of the date, Moyers moved to go ahead and hire Waste Management for Saturday, June 14; All approved. The Board discussed pursuing other options for next year.
Kevin Dicks from PSBA was present to discuss the progress of the street sign project. Almost all work is complete except for the erecting of the signs. Peters moved to donate $300 to the Nauvoo-Dallas City After Prom Party; seconded by Moyers; roll call vote all ayes./
Bids were reviewed for the erection of the Welcome signs. Kienlen moved to hire Pflasterer Construction for $630; seconded by VanNiewaal; roll call vote all ayes.
Kienlen reported that Dennis Smith had contacted him about the culvert at his residence. The Board discussed the matter and decided that they would only replace the culvert as is and not make it wider. No other action was taken.
In other business the board:
- authorized Peters to purchase 20 brackets for the flag poles
- discussed the junk ordinance violations and pot holes.
- noted and discussed the many complaints regarding Illinois Power's contractor who trimmed the trees in the Village. Complaints were made of over-trimming, leaving large messes, and piles of limbs, etc. The Board authorized the Clerk to write a letter of complaint to Illinois Power requesting that the services of this contractor not be used in the future.
- moved to reimburse Dixie Todd for the yellow ribbons she purchased to be displayed in the Village in honor of our troops in combat
- approved the Liquor License applications of

- approved paying Mike Peters $35 for mowing Village Lots.
Todd appointed the following members to serve on the Building Committee; Kinlein; VanNiewaal; and Rosenboom.
