The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.

At the upcoming Henderson County Consolidated Election April 1, 2003, there are contests for the election of Dallas City Village Mayor, Gulfport Village Trustees, and members running for School Boards in Union, Southern, and La Harpe School Districts as well as neighboring Aledo and Westmer School Districts, and the Black Hawk College District.
Raritan, Media, Biggsville, Lomax, and Stronghurst Villages have no contests nor does Gladstone and Oquawka. In fact, the latter two seem to have a shortage of candidates running for their Trustee positions.
In Oquawka, Marianne C. Gotaas and Kevin M. Sumpter are the only two running for the three open seats for Trustees.
In Gladstone, Darlene L. Manes and Florence M. Stewart are the only two running for three open seats and no one is running for the unexpired two-year term.
In Gulfport where the largest contest is, three chairs are being sought after by seven candidates:
Tony Wallace, Terry Dierikx, Marilyn Paige, Charles Goodwin, Edwin L. Ronner, Alice L. Long, and Ralph Kemp.
Office Of Mayor:
In Dallas City is the only contest for Mayor. two are running: incumbent Lila C. Gittings, and challenger Erma Clanton.
However, in other positions Dallas City is shy two candidates for four positions as Commissioners. The two running are Esther Newberry and Harold Northup, Jr.
And they are shy one candidate to run for the two positions on the Dallas City Park District Board. Sharon Neuweg is the only candidate running for a position.
