La Harpe City Council Approves Cleanup Day As April 28th

February 24, 2003 meeting

The La Harpe City Council met at 7:00 p.m. last Monday.

After the Treasurer's report and bills were approved, the council members heard that Waste Management has confirmed the date for the spring city wide cleanup. It will be Monday, April 28, 2003.

Dave Schaab from Waste Management spoke to students at the La Harpe school about recycling. The students will be starting a recycling program of their own at the school.

Eric Moe from McClure Engineering was present to discuss the motor fuel tax program for the city for the upcoming year and make recommendations. The plan will be to oil the streets on the south side of town this year and the north side next year. The south side has not been done since 1997.

Motion was made and was approved to accept Moe's recommendations. Total cost will be approximately $65,000.

The Council adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
