ASC Survivors Breakfast

Bright and early Thursday morning, June 12th, twenty-four people attended the Henderson County Survivors Breakfast held at the Stronghurst Methodist Church.

At 7:30 a.m., Theresa Fox, Relay For Life Survivors Chair, hosted a breakfast for all survivors in the county with their guests. She was assisted by Hazel Fox, Dorothy Simpson, Alta Mae Brokaw, and Jean Stone.

Coffee cakes, muffins, Danish rolls, fruit, coffee and tea were enjoyed by all.

The Relay For Life theme this year is "patriotic" and red, white, and blue was used throughout the appointments.

"Our survivors are our Stars," Fox said, and appropriately chose Starr Robinson to sing a lovely medley of patriotic songs for the special guests.

Everyone introduced themselves and told how long they had been a survivor and anything else they wanted to share.

Sandy Lefler spoke about the "Relay" and why she is part of it. She shared a very touching poem.

Jill Colley spoke about dealing with cancer and how she deals with being a caretaker of a cancer patient. She stressed that attitude is 99% of recovery. Everyone volunteered their thoughts about cancer and how to deal with it. Curt Eisenmayer reminded the men that they should have an annual check-up and PSA test.

Survivors are reminded that two beautiful Isabel Bloom figurines will be given to two lucky survivors at the relay that will be held at Union High School track July 25th.

It is hoped that residents of the county and survivors will come out strong to support this moving and worthwhile event.
