Dan Morrison 2003 graduate of Southern, competed at the Boys State Track Meet held in Charleston, on Friday and Saturday, May 30th and 31st.
The senior Rebel qualified for the meet by placing 2nd in the 800 meter run at his sectional track meet the previous weekend.
Dan ran in the preliminaries of the 800 meter run on Friday morning. He competed in the same heat as the state record holder, Zach Glavash of IVC High School.
As in his previous state appearances, Dan ran well in this highly competitive meet. He placed 7th in his heat but missed advancing to finals among the fierce field of competitors.
Dan has had an outstanding athletic career at Southern High School and was awarded the Don Isaacson Senior Male Athlete Award at graduation this year.
He will take his competitive abilities to another level as a football and track athlete at Monmouth College beginning with the upcoming fall season.
