Dallas City Council Votes 3% Pay Raise To Employees

Donates To Lomax For Kids

The Dallas City Council held its regular meeting May 28th and heard of a request from Lomax Christian Church for a donation for Lomax for Kids. The money is for a community involvement program for children of the community which also includes kids from Dallas City School, Mayor Lila Gittings said.

A motion was made by Northup, seconded by Bowman to donate $500.00 to Lomax for Kids. (Northup, Newberry, Bowman, Gittings- Aye.)

Also, city employees were voted a 3% pay raise after a motion made by Northup, and seconded by Bowman was unanimously passed to be effective June 1, 2003. (Northup, Newberry, Bowman, Gittings- Aye.)

Mayor Lila Gittings conducted the meeting with Commissioners Phillip Bowman, Esther Newberry present and Harold Northup arriving late at 7:15 p.m..

Others attending were Rowena Thompson and Dorothy St. Ores.

Other discussions were:

• May 14 minues approved,
• Rowen Thompson discussed a problem in her driveway with an adjoining property. It appears that this is on private property.
• Dorothy St. Ores discussed cleaning up City streets.
• Discussed Osage Street railroad crossing.
• Harold Northup discussed he had contacted FSA office regarding wetland by sewer treatment plant.
• Harold Northup discussed three shut off valves that the Park District has requested. These can be furnished at the City's cost.
• Discussed areas that need cleaned up in town.
• There will be a Motor Fuel Tax Letting June 3 at 11:30 a.m. at the Senior Citizens Center.
