Dallas City Undecisive On Block Party Funds

The Dallas City Council held its regular meeting Wednesday, July 23, at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Lila Gittings calling the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Phillip Bowman, Esther Newberry, and Harold Northup, Jr.

Others attending the meeting were Robbin Danielson, Chris Classen, and Rita Luder.

Rita Luder and Robbin Danielson appeared regarding a block party on August 16th. A motion was made by Newberry to pay $25.00 toward advertising for a block party. Motion died for lack of second.

A motion was made by Northup to donate $100.00 toward advertising for block party. Motion died for lack of second.

A motion was made by Newberry, seconded by Northup to donate $50.00 toward advertising for block party. Northup, Newberry, and Gittings - Aye. Bowman - Nay.

Members discussed a report from Klinger Engineering regarding the site at the maintenance building where a gas tank was removed. They agreed to contact the City Attorney regarding their agreement with EPA.

The board also approved motions:

• to make Phillip Bowman the ESDA Coordinator for the City of Dallas City.
• to sign an agreement with Illinois Municipal League Risk Management which is required by Illinois Law every twelve years.
• to approve flood plain permit #24 for Stanley Markham to build a two car garage noting the state had issued their permit.

They adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
