Lindo Crowned 2003 County Fair Queen; Ackerman Is Selected Runner-Up

It was an exciting evening for Ms. Brandie Lindo when she was crowned the 2003 Henderson County Fair Queen.

She is the daughter of Brad Lindo and Lisa Lindo, and lives with her grandparents in Biggsville.

Brandie will be a sophomore at Union High School this coming year where she participates in several activities.

The runner up for the pageant was Ms. Elizabeth Ackermann. She lives with her parents, Todd and Charlotte Ackermann east of Biggsville. Elizabeth will also be a sophomore at Union this fall.

The evening began at 5:00 for the girls when they were interviewed by the judges. The judges were Georgia Keitzer, Delores Butler, Kim Miller, and Taryn Newman.

They definitely had their work cut out for them as the contestants were all talented and beautiful.

The other contestants for the title who did a fantastic job were Rachael Bundy, Kristin Whiteman, Ciara Robinson, Starr Robinson, and Kasey Cavanaugh.

After the judging, the judges were escorted to Jo Jo's Korner in a limo for their dinner.

Troy Armstrong of the Morning Show on the Jacksonville Radio Station, was Master of Ceremonies for the pageant.

Having been raised in the Smithshire and Roseville area, he felt right at home and shared some stories and opinions with the crowd.

Ms. Marissa Cole, the Henderson County Fair Queen of 2002, reigned over the pageant for the evening. She opened the evening by singing the Star Spangled Banner and introducing the Master of Ceremonies.

Later in the evening, she also entertained the crowd with a song and then gave her farewell speech. The Directors of the Fair Pageant appreciate Marissa for the outstanding job she did as the Fair Queen.

Throughout the evening, the crowd was entertained by the 2003 Henderson County Fair Little Misses.

They were Samantha Arnold, Ashleigh Brown, Hannah Brueck, Shauna Crawford, Shelby Crawford, Coco Inghram, Savannah Jackson, Brooklyn Knapp, Marisa Lange, Mia Lange, Montana Pence, Ali Postle, Andrea Scott, Kaitlin Sparrow, Paige Spiker, and Mackenzie Wagner-Allen. Later in the evening, they were crowned and will reign during the fair.

Special entertainment for the evening consisted of celebrating the Sound Specialist's birthday-Mr. Delmar Jacob. The packed gym sang Happy Birthday to him and in honor of the event, the Directors of the fair pageant held an impromptu dance contest.

Stacie Arnold, Stacey Knapp, Wendy Corzatt, and Susan Lyon surprised the ushers, Mike Lenahan, Justin Todd, Master of Ceremonies Troy Armstrong, and the Birthday Boy Delmar Jacob, by getting them out on the gym floor to dance to Greased Lightning.

Earlier in the pageant, Bob Dillon was picked from the crowd to help Queen Brandie Lindo with her talent presentation.

The Fair Pageant Directors have a whole listing of thank-you's which will be in the Quill in the coming weeks.

It was a successful pageant and it was due to the fact of the seven outstanding young women- Ciara Robinson, Elizabeth Ackermann, Brandie Lindo, Starr Robinson, Kasey Cavanaugh, Rachael Bundy, and Kristin Whiteman. The pageant is sponsored by The Antiquity of Stronghurst.
