Dallas City To Crack Down on ATVs

At the Dallas City Council regular meeting Wednesday, June 25th, council members voted to crack down on ATVs along city streets.

A motion was made by Newberry, seconded by Bowman to enforce the law on ATVs running on city streets. Newberry, Bowman, Northup, and Gittings-Aye.

The council also voted to change next Wednesday's meeting night to Tuesday from July 9th to July 8th.

The July 8th meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. for a public hearing on Appropriations Ordinance and the regular meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Newberry, Bowman, Northup, and Gittings-Aye.

In other business the council discussed parking on Oak Street and decided that 2 hour parking will be enforced. They also discussed the new video camera in the city police car.

There have been three cameras sent from the company and two of these did not work. The company will be contacted regarding the cost of installation of these cameras. Discussed unlicensed recreational vehicles on city streets.

Chris Classen discussed a problem at the lift station on First Street. This has been repaired.

A motion was made by Bowman, seconded by Northup to pass resolution for dates of the City Council regular meetings which will be posted at the meeting location, Dallas City Senior Citizens building. Newberry, Bowman, Northup, and Gittings-Aye.

A motion was made by Newberry, seconded by Bowman to pass Ordinance #548 in tentative form for Appropriations Ordinance. Newberry, Bowman, Northup, and Gittings-Aye.

Harold Northup, Jr. discussed some repairs for the backhoe. Esther Newberry discussed employees notifying someone on the council if vacation time is going to be taken.

A motion was made by Newberry, seconded by Bowman to pay commissioners for two meetings held with WIRC on June 4 and June 12. Newberry, Bowman, and Gittings-Aye. Northup- Nay.

A motion was made by Bowman, seconded by Newberry to enter executive session for the purpose of personnel issues at 8:30 p.m. Newberry, Bowman, Northup, and Gittings-Aye.

Returned to Regular Session at 9:07 p.m.

A motion was made by Newberry, seconded by Bowman that any expenditures over $50.00 must be approved by at least one commissioner. Newberry, Bowman, Northup, and Gittings-Aye.

Mayor Lila Gittings conducted the meeting with the following commissioners present: Phillip Bowman, Esther Newberry, and Harold Northup, Jr. Others attending were Jerry Duffy and Rod Clark. The meeting adjourned at 9:17 p.m.
