Dear Editor:
A book could be written about the adulterous affairs of Democrats and Republicans. Likewise, both parties have been involved in giving many very questionable pardons.
Some historians would say that our two smartest presidents were Nixon and Clinton, and yet, they probably did the dumbest things.
Although Nixon did a lot for our country, after the Water Gate cover-up, he seems to be generally regarded as a crook. On the other hand, when Clinton had his escapades with Monica, his popularity actually increased.
How would you explain this? In my opinion it is because of a very liberal slanted media. It seems that the only place you can get unbiased views is on Fox news.
Both Nixon and Clinton made important contributions and both were detrimental in different ways.
How many presidents have gone on national t.v. and deliberately lied to their electorate? Also , how many have lied under oath in court?
How many people will go into court in the future, put their hand on the Bible and swear to tell the truth and then think of President Clinton lying, with little consequences for his behavior. Although he was impeached by the House, he seemed to take it like a joke.
Our judicial system, with elected juries, has generally been effective because they, as a whole, are normally right.
Of course there are exceptions to every rule. For example, although there was DNA evidence in the O.J. Simpson case, when the jury does not seem to understand ABC, let alone DNA, there are going to be occasional mistakes.
Another example of the majority of people having good insight is in seeing that the Bush administration had the top priority (terrorism) well analyzed and this huge problem is being resolved in an effective manner.
Since this was such an unusual war no one had an effective exit strategy. Some countries, such as Russia, France, and Germany now want to jump on the band wagon.
If these countries were too self-centered to contribute manpower, they do not deserve to reap rewards of contracts.
Some problems in the U.S. had to be put on the back burner for awhile and all of his promises were not fulfilled.
However, as a lot of the economy problems continue to improve, Macomb, as well as everyone else, will continue to benefit by the Bush leadership!
Someone asked me what Bush's fiscal policy was the other day. It is basically the same policy that Reagan and Bush, Sr. generally used Reaganomics.
This is also the same policy that set up Clinton for 8 prosperous years in office. It is the policy, which, despite a very costly war, is about to lead us back into a strong economy.
