Cavanaugh Announces Intention

 

Raymond C. Cavanaugh, the current Henderson County State's Attorney, is announcing his intention to run for election as Henderson County State's Attorney. He was appointed to his current position when David Vancil was elected Circuit Judge of Henderson County in 2002.

A 1983 graduate of Yorkwood High School, and in 1986 from Loras College in Dubuque, IA, Ray graduated from John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 1990. He began working in the Cook County public defender's office in 1988, and continued in that employment for 1 1/2 years after becoming an attorney, before returning to Warren County in 1991. In 1991, Ray was appointed Warren County Public Defender and also engaged in a private practice for five years.

In 1996, Ray became the Warren County Assistant State's Attorney and served in that capacity for another six years. During the last 12 years, he has served as president of many local charitable associations, including the Noon Lions Club, the Warren County Bar Association, the Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception School Board. Ray is currently a Director of the Henderson County Economic Development not for profit Corporation.

Ray has lived near Gladstone for the past two years with his wife Kathy and five children, Kasey (a junior at Union High School), twin sons, Shane and Riley, daughter Erin and son Colin.

Ray has been honored to work for the citizens of Henderson County and looks forward to the opportunity to further serve the people.
