Belles Lose Close One

The Southern Belles lost to Brimfield in the first game of the Knoxville Tournament 63 to 60. All five starters for the Belles scored in double digits with Darci Renken leading the scoring with 14 points and seven rebounds. Brandy Blender contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Mindy Morrison had 11 points and five steals and Kim Waddell had ten points and 11 assists.

Katie Dura and Danielle Heimann each contributed 17 points to lead Brimfield in scoring.

Belles Win Big 63-30

The Southern Belles defeated Knoxville Thursday in the Knoxville Tournament 63 to 30. The Belles were led in scoring by Kim Waddell with 15 points and 4 assists. Annie Pogue contributed 13 points. Mindy Morrison had 11 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Darci Renken had 8 points and 5 rebounds. Knoxville was led in scoring by Rachel Lenz with 14 points.

The Southern Belles defeated Kewanee Wethersfield in the third round of the Knoxville Tournament 56 to 50. Kim Waddell led the scoring for the Belles with 21 points, 6 assists and 2 steals. Darci Renken contributed 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Brandy Blender grabbed 6 rebounds and had 6 points. Mindy Morrison had 4 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Wethersfield was led in scoring by Megan Costenson with 12 points.

Belles Take 2nd Place in Tournament

The Southern Belles defeated Alexis for the third time this season in the last round of the Knoxville Tournament 61 to 20. Southern, Brimfield and Kewanee Wethersfield each ended the tournament with a 3-1 record.

By free-throw percentage, Wethersfield took 1st place and Southern took 2nd place.

The Belles were led in scoring by Mindy Morrison with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Kim Waddell contributed 10 points and 3 assists. Darci Renken contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Kayla Coffey, Brandy Blender and Annie Pogue added 8 points each to the winning effort. Kayla also grabbed 8 rebounds and 3 steals and Brandy Blender had 5 rebounds. Kim Waddell, Darci Renken and Annie Pogue were named to the All Tournament Team.
