Board Discusses Possible Sale of Residential Lots

The board discussed the possibility of selling 3 lots, zoned residential, that is owned by the school district.
The district would need to retain an easement for the sewer line. Rod Fox was directed to talk with a lawyer about handling the sale and the item was tabled until next month.
Fuel bids for January-June were accepted from Riverland FS for unleaded and Wisslead Oil for diesel.
The board granted Starr Robinson's request for dismissal at 1 p.m. so she could attend a college physiology class.
Principal Dale Buss reported:
- The Student Council collected 43 units of blood.
- Mr. Ricketts Art class has completed modifications to the Rebel flag in the high school gym
- Darci Renken was named Hawk Eye Player of the Week.
- Representative Rich Myers has visited twice with the Civics class.
- Illinois State Scholars selected are: Sara Ford, Alton Luder and Megan McCollum
Principal Jeff Nichols reported:
- The heavy rain on the 9th and 10th caused water in the locker rooms, gym, computer lab and Mrs. Barber's room.
- Shelby Crawford, Nick Gipe, Rachel Kane Jennifer McCarty-Lewis was selected winners in the "Great American Smoke Out" writing contest.
- The 8th grade girls basketball team ended the season with a record of 19 and 2.
- The 7th grade girls basketball team finished 3rd in the State Tournament.
- Southern hosted the Sand Valley tournament
Following closed session the board:
- upheld one high school out of school suspension
- upheld one Elementary bus suspension
- upheld one high school bus suspension
- hired Connie Sue Torrance and Phil Geiser as private service vendors to deal with technology issues.
