Letter to Editor

Dear Dessa,

I was just wanting to write a little note to Thank everyone who has sent cards and letters since I have been deployed to Iraq.

Everything is going ok here.

The weather is starting to cool down a little, now only getting to 105-110.

We are still planning on being over here for a year.

Plans look like right now that we will be home in Feb or March of '04.

It is great coming from a small community (La Harpe) where the support is so great.

The support you guys at home give us makes our job over here that much more rewarding.

Thanks again,

Dear Gary,

Thanks so much for your service. I don't know how you do it and I am really humbled when I see one of our servicemen ready to do whatever our country asks.

I can't see how anyone can ever turn their back on our troops and still live here and enjoy the freedoms that you and the troops protect.

May God watch over you as you continue to watch over our country.

By, the way, are letters from people back home better or are E-mails or both?

Dessa

Dear Dessa,

I receive a lot of hand written letter mail and some e-mails. Mainly letters though. I almost enjoy written mail better than e-mail because every deployment I have been on in 12 1/2 years I have kept.

Not only that, it is a little more fun to sit there and actually hold a letter and read it than on a computer.

Thanks again, Gary
